This year I participated in a blog hop for the very first time ever: the bead soup party. What great fun! A new addiction was born.
So I was thrilled two of my favorite bead artists, Lesley Watt of TheaElements and Caroline Dewison of Blueberribeads decided to host a challenge.
Both are not only talented bead artist but very gifted jewelry designers as well.
I was super duper thrilled to find out I was one of the lucky few to be able to participate. You can imagine I was doing my little happy dance around our truck. The dance became even wilder after finding out my lovely friends Lucy and Julie were participants as well!!! We wiggled our hips, we wiggled our toes, we were throwing our hands up in the air, we danced and sang, we had fun. And became nervous as well. I don't know why Lucy and Julie became nervous though, as they are so talented!
This is the gorgeous pack I received.
And then disaster struck. Big time. My muse decided to take off for a little holiday. Now was the time to get really nervous. So for a couple of weeks I was just able to stare at the gorgeous beads. I didn’t know what to do with them. Anxiety attacks, I was ready to hide under a big pile of leaves. All the other participants are so talented. What if the muse didn’t return back in time? What if I didn’t do these gorgeous beads justice? What if I could only come up with rubbish jewelry? Oh gosh, why did I ever sign up for this? And more of these, not very helpful thoughts.
Then I received a little message from Julie . This was just what I needed (thank you Julie!!). It kick started me and I knew exactly what beads would go perfectly with the lovely pendant from Lesley and one of the beads from Caroline.
This is what I came up with. The picture isn’t very good, apologies for that. I still have to practice taking pictures.
I’ve paired the pendant and ceramic bead with a beautiful lamp work bead from Lizbeads, some beautiful Czech glass in various autumn colors, vintaj brass and sari silk.
For the bracelet I used the bronze bracelet bar from Lesley and two beads from Caroline and paired them with again some Czech glass. Very autumny, if I say so.
The last bracelet has nothing to do with autumn, I’m sorry. But I just thought the cute white birdie from Caroline had to go with the polymer clay house from Somethingtodobeads and the heart pendant from Bohulleybeads. I took apart the bracelet I had made first with the house and created something else with both beads.
This is the one I took apart (I made this one for my first blog hop, the bead soup party).
And this is the new one:
Thank you for visiting my blog. Please hop over to the other participants to see what they created with their gorgeous packs.
