Al Satwa is one of my favorite areas in Dubai. This residential and shopping area is very alive, especially after sunset. A mix of nationalities like Arab, Indian, Southeast Asian and some European stroll on the streets, having something to eat or shop or just having fun. It has an eclectic mix of shops and places to eat, from cheap and cheerful curry house to Lebanese sweet shops, Persian bakeries and pizzerias.
Beads, buttons and ribbons
One of my favorite places in this area is a nice haberdashery store called Fida with all you can imagine to dress up your clothes or bags and to make jewelry.

Here you will find row upon row of the most colorful ribbons, buttons, thread.

Also if you like Indian clothes, Satwa is the area to go. From ready made kurta’s, salwar kameez/kurta kameez to textile and everything else to make it yourself. Or if you can’t you can find tailors in Satwa as well.
Satwa stories is a word piece/photo-novella by Mahmoud Kaabour and Denise Holloway which highlights the hidden gems and iconic of this area through poetry, photograpy and music.
