Salamanca, churches, frog spotting and beads

Esfera jewelry, necklace with metal pendant, wooden beads on a leather cord

Salamanca is thought to be the most important university city in Spain. Stroll around the gorgeous old city, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, with its beautiful churches, the impressive new cathedral, other splendid historic buildings and its exceptional grand square, the Plaza Mayor. And a bead shop.

And if you are thinking: what are all these people doing in front of the Universidad Civil, gazing at the facade: well they are spotting the lucky frog. Or at least trying to.

It seems that if you spot the frog without help you will be assured of good luck and even marriage within one year.

Bead shop Vilma Stoned

Strolling around all these magnificent buildings I just happen to stumble upon my favorite kind of shop to feed my bead addiction, a beading shop called Vilma  Stoned, situated close to the new Cathedral.

This brand has a couple of shops around Spain, with it’s main branch in Madrid. It’s not big but has an interesting range of beads and findings from all parts of the world. They also do workshops and they have an internet shop: www.abalorios.com/
